Parramatta Peace Group

News and comments from the heart of Sydney, focusing on Peace and Justice issues, and an independent and non-nuclear Australia. We continue the tradition of many locals who created one of the oldest on-going peace groups in Australia. Early members were active since before the Vietnam War, and the Parramatta Peace Group was formally established in 1982.

2006: the year that was

Firstly I'd like to apologise for the neglect of our online presence during 2006. However the reasons have been good ones, as the Parramatta Peace Group has focused more on "real world" activities and that just meant our focus was elsewhere, and so were our limited resources.

Our monthly meeting have continued well, mostly at the Parramatta Library and the many great :-) local cafes, plus our fundraising stalls have continued slowly but consistently to engage many locals and even raise some small funds. Wooohooo!

We have many more locals becoming interested, with many attending our meetings and trying to participate a little more. We have continued to build some great links with other community organisations and other peace campaigns.

We participated in the very successful first ever Sydney Peace Festival in Leichhardt (Nov 25), and of course many rallys such as the annual commemoration of the bombing of Hiroshima in Hyde park in Sydney.

So for those looking forwards to more "real wolrd" events, relax, they are coming! Plus we will be using this medium much more to promote and document our activities.

Just stay in touch, much more is coming!
